SURPRISE DC :: Clark/Lois
"You could learn a thing or two from him, you know."
Clark glanced up too fast and tried to lower his eyes to his computer again but too late; Lois had caught him, and there was a teasing smile on her lips.
"From -- him," Clark repeated, because he wanted to be sure they were talking about the same person.
"Well, he manages to keep Gotham safe, but he still has time to go to benefits and manage a company."
She didn't have to sound so impressed about it. "I don't think he actually sleeps," Clark pointed out, and winced at his own childish tone. What would Mom think?
Lois shifted on his desk, turning to face him and crossing her legs higher. It made her skirt ride up a little, probably innocently. Or so he thought, until she said, "Now, that I don't know about. I don't think you get enough sleep as it is."
He was turning red, Clark knew. "Lois!" he hissed, ridiculously, because even if anyone else at the Planet had been looking, they wouldn't have seen anything scandalous.
"What?" She raised her eyebrows, but her eyes were lidded. "I'm just saying. A man needs his beauty sleep..."
"Lois."
Lois reached out, tangling her fingers in his tie, and reeled him in close. "You're too easy, Smallville."
"I'm..." Clark fumbled for a reply, but she kissed his mouth shut, ignoring the whistles that broke out around them.
.
"You don't really think I should try to be Batman, do you?" he asked, much later.
For all her playfulness, Lois went still. "...Batman belongs to Gotham," she said, slowly. Softly "Superman belongs to the whole world. And that's the way it should be. But maybe I don't always like sharing."
And that, Clark had no response to.
