Spent two hours wrestling with my taxes, gave up. I'll have to go to H&R Block next weekend and pay them to take this mess off my hands. Also spent some time looking at apartments/houses?? but it was not fruitful.

Meanwhile, I have been having the random want to replace all my icons with The World Ends With You character poses. Like, FUCK YOU, YURI AND SIF AND DINOSAUR ICONS. I NEED TWENTY ICONS OF SHIKI MAKING FLIPPY HAND GESTURES.

Garrus: Krogans think it might enhance their virility and counteract the effects of the genophage if they undergo testicle transplants.
Garrus: It doesn't work, but that doesn't stop them from trying.
Garrus: They'll pay as much as ten thousand per testicle.

Also, now I know how many testicles a krogan has, and I'm sure that knowledge will come in handy.

Part of me wonders whether there's any artificial-insemination going on. I assume not. But like you could take the eggs of the few Krogan females who can carry to term and... you know?

Wrex told us that the krogans are not... really... popular for some mysterious reason, so absolutely nobody's top priority is in finding a cure for the genophage, and his people are not scientisty types, they can't do this themselves. I respect his attempts to get people to buckle down and breed for a generation to try and work past it, but yeah, no one's lining up to help the krogan start breeding like rabbits again.

Yeah, that was my impression too -- that they weren't science-y enough to manage it on their own -- but I wasn't sure if I had a REASON for that impression or not.

They seem very tribal, albeit a spacefaring kind of tribal.

Although, of course, technology-adapted is not technology universally obtained. Like, when people -- fictional or real -- make the extrapolation of, "Why would a species advanced enough to be capable of faster-than-light transport care about PETTY PROBLEM Z?", I've always been like, "What about microwaves? I know how to USE one, but that doesn't mean I know how to BUILD one." There could totally have been a small group of science-y Krogan without that changing the fact that culturally it's not a common or especially admired profession.

OR maybe the Krogan are one of the races in this game where technology was (foolishly) given to them? I know that's true of some of these dudes!

And let's not forget that the entire setting of this game is built off the "I can use a microwave but I can't exactly build one" theory. The mass relays that enable every one of these races to actually get anywhere beyond their own star system are things that the asari just found one day. They don't know how they work and they certainly can't build more.

Without the mass relays -- in places where there aren't mass relays -- exploration just kind of doesn't exist, because it takes too long and too many resources to go there. You know? Every race of Mass Effect is where they are because of what other societies have left behind. If humanity hadn't been introduced to the mass relays shortly before the turians handed them their asses we would still be dicking around in our star system, but we are at a state of artificial expansion and colonization a mere 30-40 years later.
