Ode to my Computer
Apr. 23rd, 2003 01:32 amI sent my uncooperative laptop in to Hewlett-Packard for repair on Thursday, April 17th. Next day shipping, so they'd have gotten it by Friday afternoon. Then I go to the website on Sunday to check on when my order is due back -- and they tell me that it's already shipped. As a matter of fact, they tell me that it shipped back to me on Friday -- April 18th. I verified this with FedEx, as they quite cheerily informed me that my package was already in New York.
I came up with a list of possible explanations for this.
1. They received my computer, immediately began working on him, and had him repaired within a matter of hours and shipped out the same day they received him.
Likelihood: miniscule.
2. They received my computer, decided that if they hadn't fixed the problem the first time, they weren't going to be able to, and sent me a new laptop instead.
Likelihood: small.
3. They received my computer, began working on him in a reasonable amount of time, and had him ready for me 3-5 weekdays later. They then proceeded to use their time machine to send the laptop back in time so that they could send him out the same day they received him.
Likelihood: seems logical.
4. They received my computer, had an angry discussion amongst themselves about how many problems I've been having, and shipped back a technical support representative in a box to beat me about the head and shoulders with a rolled-up warranty agreement.
Likelihood: it's what I'D do.
I received the package yesterday evening... Yep. It's my computer alright. All my data's even still on him. He hasn't gone bright radioactive pink yet, but I don't trust him...
In anime news, I *heart* Get Backers so much, and Anime Empire rocks my socks. How did I survive before Anime Suki? Having finished the MAKUBEX arc now, I am more firmly convinced than ever that I adore everybody. It ended beautifully. I am going to gauge my eyes out if people start accusing MAKUBEX of being gay, though. There are so few straight men in the series -- leave them alone already. I will cry when the first Ginji/MAKUBEX fic appears. (And it will, because the gods of fandom don't like me that much.) That boy was having a moment full of shoujo bubbles with Sakura. Can't you people tell the difference between romantic moments and moments of emotional epiphany? MAKUBEX wasn't being converted to the homosexual side of the Force, he was realizing that he's not alone. Nobody respects this. Grr. Fandom makes me angry.
Of course, I'm not entirely unprejudiced here. I have another MAKUBEX/Sakura fic being written now -- I enjoy it already -- and it occurs to me that they're definitely up there with my favorite pairings for some reason I can not even begin to explain. I have more fics planned for them than for the threesome put together! ^_^
Speaking of the new fic... ( wanna see a sample? )
I dunno, I just like it. ^__^ You'd think from the setup that I'd be making him out to be the Bringer of Doom and Destruction, but I actually already like Kiyoshi a lot. I'm not sure what I'm going to do about him, though (sorry -- your dream girl is already spoken for, by a 17-year-old boy desperately pretending that he's one of his computers so as to not be too obvious about his jealousy) because I want him to have a happy ending already.
And on two final notes: Most importantly, why haven't you (yes, you) joined the QPQ RPG yet? I know you can read, and if you can write, too, you've got all the necessary skills! Secondly -- if you're ever in a position to read about Koori no Mamono no Monogatari, do so. I am shamelessly pimping this series to everyone, because Wild is sodamncool. (Now I want to model Jonathon after Wild, because I know that Sasha would love him to death... Poor Sasha. ^^ )
